When we saw Heidi words failed us, her legs looked like matchsticks she was dirty, her coat was matted, she was skin and bone and so very depressed, she was also very lame and had a huge abscess over her rump.

On top of that she was also in foal

That is what we knew, what we didn’t know was how she was going to become the donkey’s hero.

The farrier came next day, trimmed her feet, and found what we suspected she had a huge abscess in her foot, which the farrier located and cleared it leaving an almost crater where it had been. The vet checked the abscess over her rump, and slowly Heidi’s return to health began.

Heidi is a donkey that like Ebbs is always there to meet and greet, she is another favourite with the children, she is always happy to be taking for a walk and will stand all day to be fussed.

But it was not until Blossom came along that Heidi came into her own.
